$40,700 OTF Grant from the Ontario Government makes it easier for South Bruce residents to register for recreation programs

Teeswater, ON – On Friday, MPP Lisa Thompson met with the team at the Municipality of South Bruce to hear about the impact of the two-year, $40,700 Resilient Communities Fund grant that the municipality received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) in 2024. The grant has been used to implement an online registration and booking software for the Municipality of South Bruce to help provide a more seamless program registration experience for programs, booking facilities, and checking availability—ultimately, making it easier for area residents to take advantage of recreation opportunities.

“I truly appreciated the opportunity to meet with the Municipality of South Bruce to see how the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Resilient Communities Fund is making a difference locally,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “This investment in new online registration and booking software is a great example of how provincial support can make everyday life easier for residents. By streamlining the way people register for programs, book facilities, and check availability, South Bruce is enhancing access to recreation opportunities and ensuring families can enjoy all the benefits of an active, connected community.”

The grant helped with the costs of purchasing debit terminals, as well as two years of online software licensing fees, and the and needed training and technology to support work with the new software.

"On behalf of the Municipality of South Bruce, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Government of Ontario for this generous grant funding,” said Mayor Mark Goetz, Municipality of South Bruce. “This investment will make it easier and more convenient for residents to access our fantastic recreational programming and facilities. Whether it’s signing up for a swim class, booking a space for community events, or registering for programs, this upgrade helps us build more active and connected communities."

As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents, the Municipality of South Bruce continues to provide accessible and community-driven services and programs. With a focus on efficiency and user experience, the Municipality has implemented the Univerus Recreation Software to improve how residents access recreation services. This new system allows for easy online facility bookings and program registrations, supporting South Bruce’s mission to deliver responsive and innovative services to the community. Residents can book facilities at www.southbruce.ca/rent or register for programs at www.southbruce.ca/register.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province.
