Development Charges
Overview
Development charges (DCs) are fees collected by the Municipality to help fund infrastructure and services needed to support community growth. In South Bruce, DCs apply to new residential developments as outlined in By-law 2025-36 (the 'DC By-law'). All funds collected through DCs must be used for the specific service areas identified in the DC By-law.
DCs are established in accordance with the Development Charges Act, using best available cost estimates for major projects planned over the next 10 years. These charges are capped based on the municipality’s average service levels over the preceding 15 years. A full list of growth-related projects being collected for can be viewed within the DC background study.
Please note that residential developments within South Bruce may also be subject to development charges imposed by the County of Bruce.
